About Tom Pline
Tom Pline is a watercolor impressionist. He is self taught with help from the public library and some classes along the way. Other add on skills are woodworking, and wood finishing, for a mixed media presentation in his watercolor painting and original frame designs.
Tom was raised on a dairy farm in Michigan. He spent several years in Albuquerque before moving to Westminster Co. Along the way, developing an appreciation for the grand vistas of the Rockies with the occasional barn, or adobe church, or ghost town, framing the picture. He started painting watercolors 30 years ago (with many interruptions along the way) and continues to practice and make frames.
Tom's art studio and home, where he lives with his wife, Maureen, is where it all happens. His other pastime is working in the garden. He is currently a member of the Westminster Paletteers. The way the light plays on the paper is the thing that keeps him attracted to watercolor, more luminosity than other mediums, more spontaneity, and the better way to capture the moment of the world around us.
